Common Queries

What are Classic Lash Extensions?

- Classic Lash extensions are high quality single lashes placed individually upon a single natural lash. This is one lash per natural lash as opposed to volume lash applications which involve multiple lash placement upon one natural lash.

Do I need to have a patch test?

- All new clients must have a patch test applied no later than 48 hours prior to a full set application. This is a precautionary procedure to ensure no allergic reactions follow. During a patch test, 2-3 lashes will be placed on each eye. These will not be noticeable.

Who can have lash extensions?

-Anyone over the age of 18. Unfortunately avoiding pregnant clients, and anyone undergoing hormone therapy. Any eye/health issues should be discussed with your lash tech prior to patch testing to prevent adverse reactions or compounding any existing issues.

How long do they last?

-This totally depends on a number of factors. Lashes will naturally fall out due to the hair's growth cycle. However, longevity and lash retention all depends on proper application and aftercare.

Is it harmful to my natural lashes?

-Not at all. Natural lashes continue to grow as normal. Any concerns should be brought up on your patch test appointment.

Can I use mascara?

- You will find that your new full set of lashes shouldn't call for mascara in the first place! Mascara can compromise and weaken the glue bonds which will result in lash extension loss completely, or a lot sooner than normal.

How long should I wait between infills vs. full sets?

-Ideally you should revisit your lash tech 2 to 3 weeks following a full set application for an infill. If the lashes are too sparse, your lash tech might recommend a full set application (pricing may vary).

What is Russian Volume?

- Russian/American volume lash applications  involve multiple lash placement upon one natural lash. A multi lash 'fan' is created out of single lashes by the lash artist and placed on the natural lash. The number of lashes can vary. The creation of each individual fan is where most of the time is spent. Thus each appointment varies around the 2-3 hour mark.

What is LVL?

-Lash lifting is an alternative to lengthening, curling by extensions. Because the natural lashes are permed and set in a curl, you can go about your regular makeup routine without the worry of compromising lash adhesive which affects extension retention. You are able to wear mascara if you wish! This procedure takes around an hour. It includes tinting which adds depth to your natural lash colour. Typically, a lash lift lasts 6-8 weeks.

Who can have LVL?

-LVL is safe for everyone, following a clear patch test! It is beneficial to those with long straight lashes, where the effects are most obvious. However, for those with naturally curly and short lashes, we recommend extensions to lengthen rather than lift.

What is Gel-Lys™ ?

-The Gel-Lys™ is a gel curing device that instantly bonds eyelash extensions using Lynk-Gel™ adhesive. The Gel-Lys™ device is used for the application which aims a precise Light Emitting Diode (LED) at the base of the individual lash.  With its LED less bright than daylight, the Gel-Lys™ is fully safe to operate near the closed human eye.

-The flexible bond of the Lynk-Gel™ endures stronger & longer than conventional eyelash adhesive. Its superior attachments tolerate water, oils, powerful makeup removers and eye creams. With the Gel-Lys™, your clients can continue their favorite eye care routines without worry of compromising their lashes.

-With virtually no fumes, the client and lash artist experience less respiratory irritation and fewer headaches.  clients leave their lash appointments with less red eyes and fewer tears.

What is Microblading?

- Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo technique used to create the illusion of fuller brows.  After a consultation  with clients about the best brow shape for their face and choosing a colour that matches the natural hair colour and skin undertone, the brow area is then cleaned and numbed for the treatment. Instead of using a tattoo machine, she uses a little handheld tool to manually draw hair strokes.

This all can take up to 2.5 hours. Clients are encouraged to schedule a follow up appointment four to six weeks after to make sure they are happy with the results or for if they need little tweaks. Results can last anywhere from 12 to 18 months, depending on your skin type (the ink fades faster on oily skin), products, and lifestyle.
